From Student, Bobby Johnson:
My names Bobby, I was one of the volunteers for the SPARS speed mentoring. I wanted to touch base and say thank you so much for all of the opportunity that SPARS has provided me with. I met so many awesome people that were insightful and willing to share! I think what everyone at SPARS is doing is a great thing for people in all areas of the field and I can’t wait to get more involved. I was looking forward to meeting you all though I did not get a chance to. Hopefully in the future we will connect, but on behalf of the rest of the team that I worked with it was a top notch experience. Thanks again!
From Mentor, Jason Upright of Firehouse Recording Studios
Thank you very much for inviting me to be a part of these mentoring sessions. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bob and Kirsten and myself were remarking afterwards how events such as this one are a nice reminder that some people really do need some direction and advice, and how fortunate we are to be in the positions that we are and able to give back.
I was particularly happy to participate in this mentoring workshop due to the fact that I will never forget being a mentee at my very first CMJ Music Festival in 1995. I was a dj at a college radio station in Vermont and I got to sit down one-on-one with the Director of A&R for Atlantic Records. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. That was incredible for me. So, to be able to pay it forward nearly 20 years later is a great feeling.
I would welcome the opportunity to be involved at the AES Conference.

“Would love to do this again Kirk, it was a great group of people! Great questions and I think it’s great for all of us to be able to give back, as we were all in that place at one time or another.
So yes, please keep me on a list and I look forward to the next one.
