SPARS elects new officers, adds new board members…
In activities during the recent 127th AES convention in New York, the Board of Directors of SPARS elected new officers for the coming year.
Eric Johnson, Executive Producer with Blazing Music + Sound, Raleigh, NC was elected President while Sherri Tantleff, Director of industry Outreach with Full Sail University, Orlando, FL was elected Secretary. Other appointments included the election of Kevin Becka, Director of Education for the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences, Tempe, AZ and technical writer for Mix as Treasurer.
Immediate past President, Leslie Ann Jones, Director of Music and Scoring at Skywalker Sound, San Rafael, CA, will remain on the board as consultant. "I am extremely pleased with these latest appointments to the SPARS Board of Directors," stated SPARS Executive Director, Paul Christensen. "The outstanding leadership these individuals bring to SPARS will provide the vision and
energy to move the 30 year organization to the next level."
In addition, the board welcomed two new members, Kirk Imamura, President of Avatar Studios, New York, NY and Tony van Veen, CEO and President of Disc Makers and CD Baby, Pennsauken, NJ.
In other activity, SPARS hosted AES attendees at AVATAR Studios with the annual SPARS, P&E Wing and APRS In the Mix @ AES reception. During the event, Rupert Neve accepted the APRS Sound Fellowship Award from APRS. In addition, the SPARS booth was a hub of activity as members and other recording professionals stopped by to say hello and to request membership.
