Chris Stone to receive the 2012 SPARS Legacy Award at legendary Coast Recorders
As part of SPARS new mentoring and education initiative, Mentoring the next Generation, SPARS will be partnering with the Audio Engineering Society by sponsoring the annual student section party to be held during the 133rd AES Convention in San Francisco, October 26-29, 2012.
The party is scheduled for Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and will be held at the newly restored historic Coast Recorders facility on Mission Street. The one-of-a-kind event will provide mentoring and networking opportunities for students attending the convention. As part of the evening’s festivities, SPARS will be presenting the 2012 Legacy Award to industry icon and pioneer, Chris Stone. Following the award presentation, Stone will deliver a keynote address related to mentoring and careers in the recording industry.
Michael Romanowsky, the owner of Coast Recorders and a long time fixture in the San Francisco music scene, will welcome the crowd and share some of the rich history of the facility. In addition several AES dignitaries will be attending including John Krivit, AES Education Chair , Jan Abildgaard Pedersen, AES President, Bob Moses, AES Executive Director, Gary Gottlieb, AES Governor, Jim Kaiser, AES Past President and Frank Wells, AES President Elect. Members of the SPARS Board of Directors will be on hand as well as many of the 26 industry leaders who will have participated in the expanded Ask SPARS mentoring session held earlier in the day in room RC4 in the Moscone Center.
