James Brown’s “I Feel Good,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors,” and even Black Sabbath’s “Heaven & Hell” were recorded at the Hit Factory/Criteria with its history of over 40 years.

The 7-room facility is buzzing with new sounds this month with artists to include: Lil Wayne, Super-producer Timbaland and international superstar, Alejandro Sanz.

Parking spaces are in and long-term bookings are out. “It’s a producer-driven business. We may not have the long bookings we used to but we have a larger pool of clients like producers and artists who have their own labels,” says Trevor Fletcher, Studio Manager who started at Criteria in 1983.

“Good to know some things have not changed where I enjoy service with “S”, get my reserved parking space and a truly special treatment” says 11-time Grammy Winnning producer/mixer/engineer Rafa Sardina (Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Luis Miguel) who recorded a 28 piece orchestra for Alejandro Sanz’ new album on his new label, Universal, with renowned producer and arranger Julio Reyes Copello (Nelly Furtado, Jennifer Lopez), two-time Grammy winner and recipient of nine ASCAP awards.
