You are invited to an informal meet and greet,
“get the recording community together…”
Monday · October 17, 2011
Time: Door opens 6:00 pm, meeting starts at 7:00 pm
Our 1st EVENING Meeting!
mSOUND Recording Studios
38 Jackson Street
Philadelphia, PA 19148
There are so many audio and video studios, rehearsal halls, and home facilities in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, that it’s important that we all know who we are, and what we have to offer. Equally important, is that the audio community in the area get the opportunity to meet and have wide open discussions about any and all things concerning our business.
The PRC holds a regular event at a different studio every month. If you can’t make it, a representative from your facility is always welcome. Service providers to the recording community and the artists/musicians and producers we serve, are all welcome to attend these events as well.
Bring business cards and info about you and your facility or services.
Attendance is not limited to Philadelphia studios. If you are located in our general area – come and network!
ON THE AGENDA FOR OCTOBER 17th:
PRC presents the first “MUSIC MIXER” connecting musicians, artists, producers and technical/creative service providers…
Hosting studio owner, Kevin Walker of mSOUND Recording Studios will be speaking about the use of composition and arrangement in songs.
When Kevin enrolled at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, he majored in composition under George Akerley. He continued in piano under concert pianist Annette DiMedio, Ph.D. During his senior year, Kevin attended a seminar at Curtis Institute of Music given by John Corigliano, two-time Grammy and Oscar award winner for best film score. Subsequently, Corigliano asked Kevin to study privately with him. While studying with Corigliano, Kevin pursued a Masters degree at the City University of New York. Since opening mSOUND in 1999, Kevin has produced and recorded numerous artists and bands, and has been the re-recording mixer, foley sound editor and sound sweetener on over 100 film projects. To date, Kevin has composed a piano concerto, pieces for solo piano, several chamber works and over 25 independent film scores.
Ashley Scott, Director of The Philadelphia Chapter of “The Artists United,” will be speaking to the group.
Zeelyna Wise, Director of Student Social Support Big Picture Philadelphia School / El Centro Estudiantes, will be in attendance to speak about the music and recording intern program they offer.
“The Musicians Rock Network”
and “Local Bands Kick Ass” have been invited and will be present.
The usual suspects will fill in the crowd discussing what the PRC is all about, along with the state of the scene in the Tri-State area.
Come and take part in creating a real music scene in Philadelphia!
